Online Payment

Our online payment service was down for a while during site maintenance, but it should now be working again. We don't yet know if this will cure the problem we have had with some Mastercards - please let us know if you have any problems with payment.
If you know what you want and the price you can click here to go direct to our online payment page - enter your order details and delivery address in the "Message" box, then click on the "Send money" link which will take you through the payment process.

Made-to-measure Earplugs

From time to time people ask if we supply made-to-measure earplugs. We don't, but some of our customers have bought some, found they preferred the foam plugs they previously used, and carried on buying plugs from us!

In case you think we might be biased, the following is from "The Ride Kit Awards" section of Ride Magazine, November 2011:

SHOULD I GET MADE-TO-MEASURE EARPLUGS?
Depends. Some people swear by them. Others don't have such a positive experience and regard them as a waste of money - and they can be very expensive. Unfortunately the only way to find out which camp you fall into is to get some, live with them for some time and then make your own call about whether they're worth the cost.
You'd be better off starting with conventional earplugs, of which there are dozens of varieties available. Get a variety pack from Lucy Dell Earplugs (www.earplugsbypost.com) and there's a good chance that somewhere in there you'll find a size and shape that suits you.

Outside the UK?

We send plugs to Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. We also accept online payments from these countries by Visa or Mastercard. At present some Mastercards may not work for technical reasons. We apologise for this, it is being looked into.
If you want your order sent to one of these countries, prices are higher due to the higher delivery costs.
To Europe: simply add 10% to the prices shown in the pricelist. This applies to all pack sizes.
To USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand: a £5 pack will cost you £6; a £10 pack will cost you £12. If you want a bulk pack, contact us before you order as the weights of bulk packs vary significantly.
Payment is charged to the card in British Pounds (GBP) but your card company will convert this into your currency, so the transaction will appear on your statement in your own currency.

Down Filled Plugs

Down-filled plugs were discontinued some time ago and our stocks of 202S are now very limited. Consequently, if you want to order 202S or 203S you must reserve your requirements before paying online, or before posting your order to us!
We currently have reasonable stocks of POP so at present you can order up to 25 pairs of POP without prior reservation. If you want more than 25 pairs of POP - check with us first.
The POP has one open end - there is a photo on our gallery page.

New Price List - more plugs!

Our new price list is now online, with even more plugs than before and a bit more information about some plugs. Some bulk packs are now smaller and a few prices have changed. We've also arranged the plugs by type. Traditional pvc foam plugs (E-A-R Classic etc) are at the top, followed by:
  • polyurethane foam plugs (Maxlite, Laserlite, etc)
  • "no-roll" foam plugs (Matrix)
  • 'foam' plugs with stems (such as Express)
  • corded foam plugs
  • down-filled plugs
  • rubbery plugs - without cords
  • rubbery plugs - with detachable cords
  • rubbery plugs - with fixed cords
We hope this makes it easier to find the plug you want, and to see what alternatives there are of a similar type. Note that down-filled plugs are now discontinued, so if you want some, please order sooner rather than later - and please check availability before you order.

London: postal delays

The Post Office expects delayed deliveries in London during the Olympic period of July 27 to September 9. Affected post codes begin E, EC, N, NW, SE, SW, W and WC. In addition, the 9am/1pm Special Delivery services are being replaced by an "anytime" Special Delivery service (but still 'next day', if posted Monday to Thursday).
So, if you are in the affected area, please allow extra time for your order to reach you.

Earplug variations

Colours can vary
Some earplugs come in a range of colours. One example is Solar - colours range from pink to purple. These Solar earplugs are all the same, other than the colour. So you could receive a pink pair in a Test Pack, but then receive purple pairs if you order a £5 pack. Some customers naturally think we have sent the wrong plug, because it looks different, but it's actually the right plug!
Other plugs that come in different colours include Spark Plug (various swirly colour effects), 303L/303S (plain yellow, or yellow/white), and Purafit (was plain green, now marbled green). You can ignore these colour variations and we cannot supply a specific colour with these plugs.

Brand Names can change
The name of a plug can change if brands merge or are taken over. For example, the long-established "Classic" yellow cylindrical foam plug was the EAR Classic for decades, but is now the 3M EAR Classic. It's the same plug, but now carries 3M branding, which can cause confusion.
Other examples include Bilsom 303L, which can also be labelled Howard Leight and Push-Ins, which now carry 3M prominently, as well as (now quite small) EAR.

Packaging can change
The colour and material of packaging can change. For example, 3M-1100 used to be packed in translucent greyish sachets with orange writing/diagrams. Now they are in clear sachets with black/grey/white writing/diagrams - but it's the same plug.

Changes can occur without notice
Sometimes the first we know about a change is when we receive new stock!

If in doubt...
If you aren't sure, just drop us a mail to check!

Mastercard Problems??

A technical problem means that paying by Mastercard may not work at the moment. This should be dealt with next week. Until then can we ask for your patience, or if you also have a Visa card, you can try using that.
We would appreciate any feedback from people who have had payment problems during June - please do get in touch and let us know about any problems you have had.

Correct Address Please!

Most of our customers provide an incorrect postal address. This can delay delivery and it can cause your order to be lost in the post. Please be aware that if you have given us an incorrect address, there is NO cover for loss in the post.
Before you order, please check your correct postal address at http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder

June Price List

Our June 2012 price list is now online.
If you already have one of our price lists, please check our online price list, in case prices have changed since your price list was printed.
If you order from on an old price list, and if there have been price changes, we will just adjust how many plugs we send to you, to take account of any changes.

Bank Holiday Delays

Just a quick reminder that there is no post over the Jubilee Bank Holiday, so please be aware that delivery may take a little longer than usual. We do offer courier and/or Special Delivery as extra-cost options, but even these wouldn't actually be sent before Wednesday.

Postal Address!

Royal Mail's sorting system is heavily automated so it is extremely important that you provide your correct postal address when you order.
If the address you provide is not the correct 'postal address', your order will probably be delayed in the post, or may even be lost.
Please note: there is no compensation for postal delay or loss if the address you provide is not the correct, current, postal address.
You can check your correct current postal address on the Royal Mail's website at www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder-sme

Here are some common problems:
  • Including a county - postal addresses in England do not include the county.
  • Not including the post town - the correct post town MUST be included
  • Including the council area - this is not part of the postal address
Please help us to help you, by providing your correct, up-to-date, postal address!

The Royal Mail

We are receiving an increasing number of reports of slow delivery by Royal Mail. Most customers seem to receive orders within three working days of them being posted, but this year has seen an increase in the number that take at least a week to arrive.
We offer upgrades to First Class post (add £1) which can help get things to you faster, or to Special Delivery, which is usually reliable and fast, but you need to add £6 for this (for any order up to 300 pairs).
The Guardian published an article last year about how Royal Mail's "modernisation" has "put the snail in Royal Mail". You can read the article here.

Earplug Testpacks

OUR TESTPACK contains 20 different pairs of earplugs (our choice), so you can find out which earplugs suit your ears best. All ears are different, so plugs that work well for other people may not work well for you. The pack contains plugs that have different sizes, different shapes, different noise reductions and are made of different materials. If you think earplugs are uncomfortable, or won't stay in, it is possible that the plugs you are using aren't the best ones for your ears.
OUR TESTPACK is £9.95 including standard UK delivery). You can order and pay online. In the message box you need to tell us what you want, your name, and the address to send it to!
OVERSEAS? We accept debit and credit card payments from the UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, but the total cost is £10.95 (includes £1 towards the cost of air mail). Remember to enter what you want, your name, and the address to send to in the message box. Please be careful to lay your address out exactly as it should be written on the envelope!

May 2012 Price List

Royal Mail introduced a massive price rise at the start of May 2012, so we have had to change our pack sizes and prices. Some prices have changed signficantly so PLEASE check the current price list before you order. If we receive orders based on an out-of-date price, we'll adjust the quantity of plugs we send, to reflect the new prices.
